Fat Wreck Chords is still going strong after more than 25 years. Formed by NOFX’s legendary Fat Mike and his former wife, Erin Kelly-Burkett, the label has endured at a time when many others fell foul to a cut-throat music industry. Known for its distinctive sound and identity, Fat Wreck Chords boasts a discography that includes Lagwagon, Strung Out, Bad Riddance and Propagandhi. There’s something infectious about the passion and the enthusiasm of the label and its bands that you don’t see enough of nowadays. This punk-u-mentary documents the early history of Fat Wreck Chords, through to the glory days of the late nineties, followed by its more recent survival against the odds. Fat Wreck Chords lived through digitalization, redundancies and even its co-owners divorce, as a result of their resolve not to break up a community. The label has even released compilation albums to raise money for charity, and formed the ‘Punkvoter’ campaign, encouraging young Americans to engage with politics. This one is for the fans, the family and the independents that survive despite it all.
