Desperate to understand his wife’s sudden disappearance in the night, Eligio (Gael Garcia Bernal) travels to America to find her. Locating her at a prestigious writing course, he attempts to bring her home, however Susana (Veronica Echegui) is not so keen to return to a man who so frequently takes her for granted.
You’re Killing Me Susana clearly shows that this relationship is not simply black and white, and that an unfaithful act may be a simple cry for attention. At first appearing as bullish, inconsiderate and controlling, throughout the course of his journey Eligio slowly matures and we finally see him as someone desperate to know his wife still loves him – perhaps how she saw him in the first place. There are some great laugh-out-loud scenes alongside some masterfully tense moments which will leave you gasping for more: you’ve never seen a love/hate relationship quite like this before.
