The world of seven-year-old Luca is rapidly changing. Her parents, who broke-up two years ago, fall in love again while renovating their soon-to-be-sold house in the volcanic island of Santorini. The girl cannot accept the fact that her beloved father, whom she idolizes and favours over her mother, is preoccupied with somebody other than his little daughter. Something has to be done to prevent the ex-couple's reunion.
This dark and frightening story takes you deep into the psyche of a child trying to cope with the loss of a high status, being left to twist in the Aegean wind. The majestic Greek landscape intensifies the sense of dealing with an intimate story, presented from Luca's point of view. Will she accept the new situation or will she burst the bubble she has created?
Rarely do films have such a visually and conceptually coherent structure as Dark Blue Girl, which is mesmerizing from the very first shot, which keeps you on the edge of your seat, asking yourself, "what is Luca going to do next?".
