After getting fired from her job in New York, Emma travels to Florence to think her life through. During her stay she meets Tancredi, an Italian nobleman. Their romance quickly progresses and soon she is treated as a fully-fledged member of his family. At first Emma is enchanted by the handsome Italian, but soon she sees the true nature of his elitist, bourgeoisie kin. Her role is strictly imposed, but will she break ranks? This film grants unique insight into Italy’s elite society of future politicians, showing them living in a bubble completely out of touch with common people. The camera is always close to the protagonist, giving a sense of personal pesence to each scene and making Noble Earth Emma's intimate story. The film's measured pace creates a dream-like atmosphere on the sleepy, beautiful Florentine coast. Magnificent shots highlight beautiful scenery, but there is something rotten, jaded, and spoiled about this vista. Monika Ladwich
