'Work in Progress Screening' A grotesque and tyrannical impresario rules over a dystopian London. We follow Art, a struggling piano player and Sal, a compulsive liar as they embark on a string of ludicrous escapades. Plagued by unease and discomfort their friendship strengthens their resolve to escape the oppressive regime. On their adventures they encounter a deranged magician, an anarchist witch and the impresario’s twisted right-hand man leading to a final showdown with the despotic ruler himself. The disjointed scenes, unusual camera angles and incredible special effects create a dream-like ambience of the city with its sparkling stars and looming moon reflected in the dark waters of the Thames. With low-key lighting and intricate set designs reminiscent of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, the claustrophobic atmosphere reinforces the two protagonists desire to escape. Director Ben Charles Edwards, known for his avant-garde and fearless approach to filmmaking, has crafted a visually dynamic film with an impressive cast including Sally Phillips and Noel Fielding. This darkly comic story is about the power of friendship and the thrill of adventure when you have nothing to lose.  Work in Progress Screening
