If you suspect your spouse is cheating on you, John Duval is the man to seek. This no-nonsense private eye delights in his voyeuristic lifestyle until he starts to realise that the material he watches interferes with his sex life. Seeking help, he visits Dr Catherine Benson, a psychiatrist, who believes that the nature of his work and his troubled past involvement in the Falklands war are the cause of his violent fantasies. As he starts to gain clarity, Duval is asked to investigate his old naval friend’s wife. As Duval delves into the case, a series of terrifying sexual murders plague his every move as the women he has been associated with are killed off one by one. Detective Inspector Ambrose is out to get Duval but can he prove his innocence? Writer/director Mark Greenstreet delivers a intense, psychological watch; he crafts a daring, unique character out of Duval that plays excellently to James Weber Brown’s versatility. By turns menacing, enigmatic, charismatic, humorous, vulnerable, the ‘Silent Hours’ triumphs on the knowledge that we can’t help but feel compelled to help John, yet we also fear him. Disturbing, gory, intelligent, this thriller will keep you hooked.
