How would you like to have a beer and a chat with John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten)? If your answer is “very much”, then this documentary will be your hour and a half of heaven as we sit down with the musical legend in the kitchen of his LA home and talk through the decades since the Sex Pistols’ demise, and the forming of Lydon’s Public Image Ltd., in 1978. Lydon has kept Public Image Ltd relevant and challenging for nearly 40 years, facing many personal and professional challenges along the way, and he himself continues to be a highly creative and successful individual. The film is filled with insights not just from Lyndon but from other band member too, past and present. The Public Image is Rotten is an incisive and entertaining documentary that sheds a light on one of the most influential musical personalities, who has been a key member of two of the most-loved bands, for the past half-century. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier in the year and is having its European Premiere at the Raindance Film Festival. Orestes Kouzof
